Gender based violence
Introduction of the Me Too Revolution.
One of our tools and projects is to launch the Me Too Revolution.
This project involves collecting anonymous stories of gender-based violence.
Any group can collect stories, for example, students in universities, people in the performing arts, people in sports, women in sex work, workers in various professions, people in certain cities.
One story is about a girl who had to sleep with a government employee to get an ID card that everyone should be able to get for a fee.
To collect stories, you need to build trust and show that no one is making money from this, just collecting stories to be able to present them so that others can identify with them and say: Me Too.
It is important that the stories are anonymous so that those who tell them do not have to face retaliation or other consequences.
Once the stories are out, you need to find strong women to put together a few stories and take them to the media and tell about the project and get the media to post these 4 stories on their website so everyone can read them and get acquainted with them. In this way victims of gender-based violence can identify with the stories and see that they are not alone in their situation, hence they can respond and say: Me Too.
The data needed is:
- A statement of the situation.
- A challenge of changes to society and the authorities.
- Stories and testimonies from hundreds of women about the gender-based violence they have experienced.
- The roots and processes of gender-based violence and how it is possible to stop it.
I will attach examples of such documents here.
