A new international platform to promote peace, non-violence and humanist diplomacy

In a world where change is accelerating, crises and challenges are multiplying, and the need for dialogue, solidarity and cooperation is growing, the Humanist Embassy is preparing to organise the eighth session of the Humanist Forum on 2 October 2026, via Zoom, under a theme of profound significance and forward-looking vision: ‘The Power of the New Humanism in the face of the future’.

The forum’s theme serves as a conceptual starting point for posing a fundamental question about the future of humankind and its capacity to cope with a rapidly changing world: How can humanity transform itself from a moral value into an active force in shaping the future?
In this spirit, the 8th Humanist Forum Morocco reaffirms that peace, non-violence, dialogue and solidarity are not separate values, but interrelated elements of a project that seeks to place human beings at the centre of the transformations the world is undergoing.

The power of humanity… A new concept of power

Human power is not measured by means of pressure or instruments of conflict, but by the capacity of human beings to show solidarity, cooperate and engage in dialogue, protect human dignity and turn crises into opportunities to build a safer and more balanced future.

New Humanism… from empathy to action

New Humanism is not merely sympathy for the victims of wars and crises; it is not only there to provide assistance in the wake of a disaster, but also to focus on prevention, anticipation, peace-building, the promotion of dialogue and the development of cooperation between peoples and civil societies.

It is a form of humanism that harnesses technology, knowledge and modern means of communication; works to build cross-border networks of solidarity; and gives civil society a greater role in tackling humanitarian challenges.
In this context, the forum aims to open a debate on how to develop humanist action so that it is more resilient in the face of change and better prepared for the challenges ahead.

Facing the future begins today

The future will not wait for us to discover its challenges, and many of them are taking shape today. Preparing for the future therefore requires a shift from reacting to anticipating, from addressing the consequences to considering the causes, and from waiting for crises to build the capacity to tackle them before they worsen.

The forum raises a fundamental question: do we want to be mere recipients of the transformations the future is bringing about, or do we want to be partners in shaping them?

The vision conveyed by the chosen theme tends to favour the second option: the future is a space for human action, not a destiny imposed upon us.

Peace and non-violence. The foundation of human power

The Eighth Humanist Forum places the values of peace and non-violence at the heart of this vision. Peace does not merely mean the absence of war; it also involves building a culture based on dialogue, respect, tolerance and cooperation, and on addressing differences whilst steering clear of violence and exclusion.

Non-violence is not a passive attitude, but can be a civic and moral force capable of bringing about change through dialogue, participation and collective action.

Humanist and parallel diplomacy

One of the Forum’s particularly important themes is Humanist diplomacy and parallel diplomacy.
In a world where crises and interests are multifaceted, dialogue is no longer confined to official channels. Civil society, universities, intellectuals, media professionals, humanists, organisations and associations can all help to open up new avenues for communication and the building of trust.

For this reason, the Humanist Embassy seeks to promote the concept of Humanist diplomacy as a bridge between peoples, a means of bringing perspectives closer together and supporting initiatives that place the human being at the centre of relations and cooperation.

The human being at the heart of the future

Amidst the political, economic, technological and social transformations the world is undergoing, the most important question remains: Where is the human being?

It is human beings who pay the price for wars and crises; it is they who seek security, dignity and stability; and it is they who desire a better future for their children.

Placing human beings at the centre of the debate on the future therefore means emphasising that no progress can have any real value unless it serves and preserves human dignity and human rights.

This is where the Forum’s profound message is clear: a humane future cannot be built without a strong humanity, and humanity cannot be strong without peace, dialogue and solidarity.

A message for future generations

Finally, the 8th Humanist Forum is here to present a message that extends beyond its date and digital platform.
It is a message for the present and the future: that human beings must not be victims of the future, but partners in shaping it.
Tackling the challenges that lie ahead requires not only more technology and resources, but also greater solidarity, dialogue, awareness, justice and peace.

The future we want requires a human will capable of transforming values into actions, ideas into initiatives and disagreements into opportunities for dialogue.

For this reason, the motto of the 8th Humanist Forum – ‘The Power of the New Humanism in the face of the future’ – carries a clear call to action: to make humanity a constructive force, peace a guiding principle, non-violence a way of life, dialogue a bridge, and the future a shared space for all human beings.
